Welcome to La Casita de la Jackie

First Post of La Casita de La Jackie.

My name is Jacqueline, a name given to me by my madrina Coco at birth, I was named after a famous Mexican actress, not to be confused by Jacqueline Bracamontes, I am named after the original Mexican Jacqueline in the late 70’s, Jacqueline Andere (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacqueline_Andere).  Jacqueline is also the name I chose to go by as I become an adult at 32.  (I will share more about my adult-ing in a future post).

Only family and close friends call me Jackie.  I named this page La Casita de la Jackie because its a more intimate place for me to express.   A place where I will be sharing about housing, one of my most precious passions (hence “la Casita”), my immigration story and how these two interconnect with each other.

I will also share about love and loss, more about love than loss though.  About being an immigrant in Los Angeles but not really having a home to go back to (in case you’re wondering).  I will also share about painful shit and how in Mexican families (or at least in my own) sometimes we laugh our pains away.

Why start now…

Because its time to use my writing as an outlet for 1) therapy/mental health 2) personal growth.  Over the years, I have used my writing for these two purposes and weeks before my 39th birthday, I am on a quest to acquire more insight about myself.   I will use my writing as self-care in order to keep myself on check and I invite you to this journey with me.

La Casita de la Jackie welcomes you.
